Choices

Demonstrating patriotism -

1. Buy paper flags from street kids on the 25th of January
or
1. Get some friends together to clean up discarded paper flags on the 27th of January

2. Buy paper flags from street kids on the 25th of January
or
2. Treat a couple of street kids to a snack

3. Buy paper flags from street kids on the 25th of January
or
3. Read up on the significance of the flag in national history, and share the same with friends

4. Buy paper flags from street kids on the 25th of January
or
4. Give the kids some money and ask them not to peddle flags

Have you wondered why it is an insult to the national flag if it is worn as a fashionable garment, but is not if little paper replicas are sold on the streets? That except to a few curious individuals, the exact dimensions of the flag is unknown to most Indians, including our politicians? If the flag is a symbol of our republic, then aren't you amazed that post every republic day/independence day, there are millions of flags thrown about on the ground everywhere and end up in the garbage? But then, thinking about all this is inconvenient. Let's talk about the new movies out this weekend instead.
